Preprints & Autopens

When a celebrity is too busy or unwilling to fulfill autograph requests by hand, they might rely on preprints or autopen to satisfy their fans. Preprints (PP) are photographs that a studio or agent provides that has the person's autograph printed on it; typically the autograph is part of the image, but can also be printed as a second process. Autopens (AP) work in a similar fashion, where the person's original signature is replicated by a machine which allows for greater range of items to be signed. Any autographs sent by Studio Fan Mail (SFM) are always PPs.
